Cathy Cat-Rastler
A photographer

As a sharp observer of the frontier zone crossing art and social, Cathy Cat-Rastler is unceasingly looking for the displacement, the step aside, the gap where a tiny grain of sand could slip into. According to her, resilient changes can emerge from the slightest details and be instilled into the social background.

She thinks that we are drowned into a society where needs have replaced desires. That's why she chooses a new attitude : « an attitude which is more ethical than aesthetic. A definitely political and thus definitely human attitude that involves people in a sensitive sharing and seeks in everyday life a new reality that stresses a resistance deep-rooted in the human being… »
Through her photographic work, she targets some « nooks » in the reality that break the common standard and that crack this « uniform world » we are assigned to live in.
She deliberately uses silver images and never retouches her photographs in order to grasp a fragment of real out of reality. She offers both an exterior and intimate sight to the one who dares looking at. She confronts the viewer with a void where he has access to the unconscious and is able to name his desire. He is free to give his own meaning to what he's looking at, in accordance to his own personal story.

To take such a posture is to erase make-believes and to wake up. It's being courageous enough to see. It's making an inner self revolution.
